I often wonder if the world changed its perspective would it become something new? Or is it already something new? Everyone's perspective on life and the way they see the world is different. I love that about human's. We unknowingly have the powder to change a situation by simply viewing it in different ways. In this regard when we change how we see the world it becomes something totally new. One person might see spring has allergies season, while if they changed what they focused on it could become a clean slate. The snow is melting, the birds are singing, grass will be green soon, and the trees will bloom. The world as we know it is a very complicated place. Things are either black or white. What would happen if we "saw" or knew when things become grey? How much would the change if everyone in powder changed their way of thinking? If instead of seeing others as hostile would we all be able to live in peace?
When we become parents we start to see the world as a dangerous place for our kids. Any thing could happen, they could be kidnapped, sold into slavery, they could be rapped, literally anything could happen. Most times it's hard for us to get these awful thoughts out of our heads. Every day we see things on the news that confirm our worst fears. What we seem to either choose not to see, or even ignore is all the good things that happened today or yesterday. If we choose to focus on the all the good things, we begin to see all the possibilities. Suddenly everything has something good that can come from something bad. The snow is melting we can get outside, play in the puddles and make a mess. While some would see the mess as bad, I choose see it as a sign that everyone had fun.
Covid-19 slammed into the world like a freight train carrying rocks. Everyone got scared and worried. Which meant that people stopped having manners. Things were said that can never be unsaid. Words that have huge impact on everyone were thrown around, like beer at party in the country. To almost everyone Coivd-19 was horrible and it put the word in a state of limbo. What if we stopped focusing on all the bad and started looking at the good things that happened because of Covid-19. Family came together to help each other get through it, even when they couldn't get together physically. Communities came together to help those that couldn't go out and get food. For a time the world all at once learned the value of Kindness. We learned how far we are willing to go to survive. We learned that everyone has the capacity for compassion. Our world is a beautiful place, we just need to be okay with being different. Different isn't bad, but at some point along the way we started to fear what was different. Instead we should have learned from mistakes made in the past. How could we have forgotten all the lesson's we learned in the past? Covid-19 at first glance was a horrible thing, can we learn anything from it? ABSOLUTELY! We learned what we can do, and we learned what we should do. The world came together to make a vaccine so we all get to what we call "normal."
Changing how we view things is part of life. It's a life lesson that we all need to remember from time to time. Look past the bad horrible things, and find the beautiful things in every situation. Truly look at your life and find the good. Think back to when you were kind to someone, even tho they might not have repaid your kindness, think about how it made you feel. In that moment what did you feel? Peace, calm, happy, elated? Find that emotion and hold on to it, because next time someone is in need you can have it again.
In the words of Cinderella- "Have Courage and Be Kind" <3
