"Mommy how did you get baby's?"

"Mommy how did you get baby's?"

Yesterday my 6 year old daughter came into my bed room during quite time to ask me some questions. Questions that a lot of 6 year olds ask thier parents. Most parents are ready for these questions, I however am not. So when she came in asking a million questions my brain went like a deer in head lights and could not think up a answer for what felt like forever. Finally coming up with a safe answer the following conversation took place.

"Mommy how did you get baby's?"  Asked my 6 yr old.    "Uhmmmm........a stork came and gave you to me?"   "Mommy how did you get this house? Asked the 6 year old. "We bought it with money."  "Mommy how do you get money?"  "Well you work for it..so for us your dad goes to work to make money so we could buy this house, and the clothes your are wearing, and the food that I buy to feed you."   "Mommy why do you need money?"  "You need it to pay for things, like the power that keeps your cartoons on the TV."

This could have gone for ever had my 2 year old not come in the room and totally distracted her from  her million question answer session. How do you explain with out telling her how you really get a baby? To my mind I kind of think she is a little to young to be given the real answer. So being that kind of good parent I give answers like the storks brought you to me or magic put in my belly. I am not a big Christian but some times I will even do god put you there.  No matter how many times I have been asked this question I always feel like a deer in head lights. I never seem to have a good answer ready.

She is always the one that puts me on the spot with some crazy questions. Sometimes in front of people, other times thankfully at home, or in the van on the way to some where she will ask the most weird questions.  Such as "Mommy, why is santa so quite?" Before I could answer and say something like magic, she went off on this 10 minute explaintion as to why she thought santa was so quite. I couldn't  help but giggle as her answer was very detailed.

Kids do indeed say the weirdest things. I wish had her imagination, this blog would be so much more interesting. Suddenly one day there would be blog about Doctor Who and all the reasons i love it! That may happen by the way! What have your kids said to you recently that had you giggling?
